Escalera is a national program that promotes economic mobility for youth. Centering the experiences of first-generation Latinx students, Escalera supports students personally and academically as they explore career paths, prepare for college and develop leadership skills.

Early Escalera (for freshmen and sophomores) and Escalera (for juniors and seniors) is an after school program that supports students through their entire high school career, providing guidance and support through the following:

  1. A rigorous, semi-scripted curriculum that is responsive to students’ culture

  2. Self-Knowledge & Cultural History

  3. College Support: Applications, ACT, FAFSA and Scholarship

  4. Career Exploration: Emphasis on STEM careers

  5. Soft Skills & Leadership Development

  6. Experiential learning activities

  7. Wrap around case management

  8. Internship opportunities

Since 2014, our Escalera program has served 230 youth from three local high schools and had 140+  scholars walk the stage at graduation! Our Escalera graduates have received over $500,000 in scholarships from various public and private sources.

We are working out of our Jefferson Parish site and are expanding to Orleans Parish in the near future!
